Experience                                    

There is no substitute for experience. 

When it comes to Kent City Council, local, hands on experience is invaluable. I bring years of local experience to the table.

I have served on the Land Use and Planning Board since 2004.  I am currently serving as Chair. The Land Use and Planning Board takes information provided by City staff and input from citizens to make recommendations to Council regarding long term planning. I have worked with City staff on Shoreline Masterplan, Stormwater and Flood plans. I was also involved in the Transportation Master Plan and the update of the Comprehensive Plan. I am the Land Use and Planning Board member of the Short Sub-division Committee. The knowledge I have gained from serving on the Land Use and Planning Board will be an asset in my role as Kent City Council member.

I am also currently serving as the Chair of the Kent Arts Commission. The Arts Commission works with City staff to promote cultural programs and public art in the City of Kent. The KAC helps plan the annual Spot Light Series - a series of concert, theater and dance performances. The Commission also works with local artists to present an annual art show in conjunction with Cornucopia Days. 

As a member of the Arts Commission I have volunteered at many community events, worked to promote the arts in our community and been involved in the dedication of several public art pieces. It has provided me with a great way to make contact with the citizens of Kent and become involved in the community.

I served on the Transportation Master Plan committee. The committee looked at all of the transportation and traffic issues facing Kent and made recommendations to Kent City Council regarding projects and priorities.

Each year I volunteer in the classrooms of my sons. I have owned my business for 15 years. As a small business owner, I have first hand experience with the budget process. The only way to truly understand this process is to be directly involved.

My experience in this city makes me the most qualified candidate.  I am ready to be a Kent City Council member!
